1. Remove the Factory EVAP Canister
- If your bike is equipped with the factory EVAP canister, remove it from the frame as it will not clear the skid plate.
2. Remove the Voltage Regulator
- Next, remove the voltage regulator from its factory position at the front of the frame.
3. Install the Regulator Relocation Plate
- Install the regulator relocation plate onto the stock location where the voltage regulator was originally mounted. Use the button head allen bolts and nyloc nuts to hold the plate to the frame
- Align the plate using the round holes at the top (crown section facing up) and the slotted holes at the bottom.
4. Install the Voltage Regulator to the Relocation Plate
- Attach the voltage regulator to the relocation plate using the slotted holes. This will lower the regulator to clear the crash bar.
- Reuse the factory allen bolts that originally held the voltage regulator in place.
- Secure the regulator with the provided 1/4" x 20 nyloc nuts.
Note: Removing the EVAP canister is essential for proper installation as it will not clear the skid plate.
5. Install the Skid Plate and Crash Bar
- With the regulator relocated, you can now install the crash bar.
- The skid plate mounting tabs should be positioned between the frame and the crash bar mounting plates.
- Both the skid plate and crash bar use the same mounting holes for installation.
- Prior to installing the crash bar check to make sure the treads in the frame are clean and free of debris. If they look rusty or dirty it is recommended to chase the threads with a 3/8 x 16 tap and blow out the holes prior to installing the mounting bolts
- Install the 4 supplied 3/8 x 16 allen bolts through the crashbar and skid plate into the threaded holes in the chassis
